Web Designer VS. Web Developer

หลายๆคนคงเคยสงสัยว่า Web Designer กับ Web Development ต่างกันอย่างไร เพราะ งานในบางส่วนก็ดูจะมีคล้ายคลึงกันอยู่บ้าง ในบทความนี้เราจะมาหาคำตอบกัน

Many people have wondered how Web Designer and Web Development have differed from each other because some of their work looks rather similar. In this article, we will see how the two are different.

Web Designer

Web Designer จะสนใจอยู่กับรูปลักษณ์หน้าตาของเว็บไซต์ มักจะคุ้นเคยเป็นอย่างดีกับพวกทฤษฎีการใช้สี กราฟิกดีไซน์ และ การไหลของข้อมูล ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องที่ดีถ้าหากรู้เรื่องของ HTML, CSS และ JavaScript ด้วย แต่ก็ไม่ได้จำเป็นเท่าไหร่เพราะไม่ได้ Coding

Web Designer will focus on the appearance of a website or web application. They are familiar with the color theory, graphic design, and information flow. It is good to know about HTML, CSS, and Javascript but not mandatory.

Web Developer

Web Developer รู้วิธีที่จะเขียนโปรแกรม และ ทำงานในส่วนที่ทำให้เว็บไซต์หรือแอปพลิเคชันทำงานสมบูรณ์ โดยทั่วไปมักทำงานเกี่ยวข้องกับการทำงานของระบบ

Web Developer knows how to code and work on making website or application work. In general, they are concerned with functionality, not the appearance.

Web developer แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ประเภท คือ Front End และ Back End

2 types of Web Developer are Front End and Back End.

>> Back End

Back End ทำงานเกี่ยวกับส่วนโปรแกรมมิ่ง หรือ ส่วนประมวลผล

Back End Developer work with a particular programming language database and Framework.

>> Front End

Front End จะสามารถเขียน HTML, CSS และ Javascript ได้คล่องเพื่อทำให้การแสดงผลบนเว็บบราวเซอร์ออกมาสวย ซึ่งในส่วนนี้แหละที่มีการคล้ายคลึงกับ Web Designer ทำให้คนที่ทำงานด้านนี้อาจจะดีไซน์เว็บไซต์ได้ดีด้วย

Front-End Developer can smoothly write HTML, CSS, and Javascript to make the web browser looks pretty. In this section that is similar to the Web Designer, therefore they may have a good design skill.

สรุปว่า ทั้ง Web Designer และ Web Developer (Front End) มีการใช้ทักษะที่คล้ายๆกัน แล้วแต่ว่าใครสนใจจะทำงานทางด้านไหน ถ้าหากเรามีทักษะการทำงานหลายแบบก็จะมีโอกาสด้านการทำงานหลากหลายมากกว่า หรือ อาจจะศึกษาทักษะจนกระทั่งเป็น Full Stack Developer ก็ได้ ไม่แปลกอะไร

Conclusion: Both Web Designer and Web Developer (Front End) are using similar skills. If we have a lot of skills, we'll have more opportunities to work or learn skills until we become a Full Stack developer.
